ANSWER THE CALL TO FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY & STAFF

Contributions towards our 2008 Faculty/Staff Campaign help meet the needs of the University as these generous gifts are used on a daily basis where the needs and opportunities are greatest.  Helping give students opportunities that will benefit them not just as students but also as citizens of the world is a powerful motivator to give.

THE CALL OF YOUR SUPPORT   -      Why Should I support FSU?

• Outside funding depends on you.  One of the most important factors when a Foundation or Corporation considers investing in FSU is the percentage of employee giving.  Less than 10% our employees give back to FSU which makes a direct impact on outside investments by potential donors.
• To support scholarships.  Scholarship support is the university’s area of greatest need.  Providing an affordable education to our students and lessening the financial hardships placed upon them is our top priority.
• To invest in the university’s programs. Many faculty and staff feel strongly about the nature of work being done here at FSU and providing funding for research, professional development, and programming is extremely important.
• To assist the university with the funding needed to continue a tradition of excellence. FSU receives assistance from the state rather than total support.  Faculty and staff are passionate about their service to the institution, making private support essential to success.

Bronco Legacy Circle Update

Rene Stinson Hall

Rene’ Stinson Hall Joins Bronco Legacy Circle

Rene’ Stinson Hall graduated from Fayetteville State in 1976 with a degree in Elementary Education. While celebrating at Homecoming, she, along with several others, were challenged by fellow Bronco, Dorothy Hardy, ’64 to make a legacy gift to the university. She was convinced that this was something she would like to do.  Mrs. Hall decided to make a legacy gift by naming the school as beneficiary of her life insurance policy. She designated her gift to go towards the Willis B. McLeod RISE Scholarship.

Hall said. “I thought of how proud my mother (Class of 1942) would be to know that I have done something for my alma mater which enabled me to get out and be successful in my career.   FSU assisted me in forming lifelong friendships, as well as preparing me for my career.”

Strange spent her career as an educator, first teaching Reading and then, after graduating with a MEd. from North Carolina Central University, as a Speech-Language Pathologist.  Although, she retired after her career in Wayne County, she works several days a week as there is a shortage of certified educators in her field.

Some of Rene’s most memorable experiences center on her membership in the sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.  As a member for over thirty years, she has many fine stories and “lots of sisterly love” for her fellow Delta members.

Mrs. Hall stays in contact with the friends and classmates she met at FSU and visits campus regularly.   As current president of the Gold-Wayne Chapter of the FSU National Alumni Association, she always enjoys being back on campus for homecoming and other events. She feels great about making her legacy gift to the university that will provide for students through scholarships and said she highly recommends that others give through these avenues.

With this planned gift, Rene’ Stinson Hall, becomes a member of the Bronco Legacy Circle. To become a member of the Bronco Legacy Circle, donors must indicate FSU as a beneficiary in their will or be a participant in a planned or deferred gift such as an annuity or charitable lead trust.

Mrs. Hall’s husband is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University and they have two sons.

Please Note: As Fayetteville State University (FSU) prepares to meet the challenges of the 21st century, we know that the generosity of alumni and friends of the University will make the difference in our success. We want to ensure that our donors benefit from making a gift to FSU, and there are many ways to give that can improve a donor's financial and tax situation. While employees and representatives of the University may not provide specific tax or legal advice to donors or prospective donors, the staff in the Office of University Development may provide general non-binding information regarding potential tax and legal implications of proposed gifts. We also recommend that you seek professional legal and/or tax consultation as needed.
